| Travelling can be difficult for any pet, but if your isn't in the best of health you may need to reconsider taking them with you. Minor problems tend to become much more serious under such stressful situations-particularly if the journey involves a flight or a long confinement, so you will need to keep an extra special eye on them! You should take your pet to the vets for a complete check over, and ask their professional opinion before you make your final decision about traveling with your pet. Be sure to discuss any concerns you may have with them.
Ask your vet to find out what your pet's 'normal' are-for example, their heart rate/pulse, temperature and rate of respiration=and request that they teach you how to measure these for yourself, and what the normal range is. Any significant deviation from these norms (or in toileting habits), may indicate that something is wrong with your pet, and may warrant a visit to a local vet. |

Try to take a copy of your pets medical records, or a letter from your vet with a brief history and details any medication they are on, away with you. This should prove very useful in an emergency situation, if a vet who is unfamiliar with your pet, has to treat them. You may also wish to speak to your vet about what to pack in a first aid kit for your pet!
